Research shows that dyslexic learners need the following five elements in their tutoring:
An Orton-Gillingham Approach
The Orton-Gillingham (OG) method of teaching is essential to a dyslexic learner's success. The OG approach is explicit, systematic, sequential and multi-sensory. The International Dyslexia Association has published two fact sheets. Find them by clicking HERE and HERE.
The Right Duration
Attend until the learner is at or above grade level. The OG approach follows a progression and many students choose to continue tutoring even after they are at grade level to finish the progression. Depending on the severity of the learner's dyslexia, this process can take two to four years to complete.
